The nation’s favourite casual dining restaurant is set to open its third store in the city this year.
Restaurant chain Nando’s are to open a new restaurant in Coventry, located at Arena Shopping Park.
Little is know about the new restaurant so far, with branded construction hoardings being put up around the unit in recent days in preparation for work to get underway.
An exact opening date has not yet been decided, but a spokesperson for the brand said they intend to open “Spring/Summer” time if all goes to plan.
The new restaurant will be the brand’s third location in the city, joining its city centre and Walsgrave locations.
Nando’s, which specialises in Portuguese casual dining, is famed for its chicken and Peri-Peri spice, most notably selling a range of burgers, wraps, pittas.
In line with Nando’s brand aesthetic, expect a rustic yet vibrant design – filled with colour, patterns and interesting mixes of old and new, paying homage to the brand’s African roots while bringing forth moments of British design.
Planning documents approved by Coventry City Council last year proposed a new shop front facade (pictured below) and a make mention of a “timber feature wall”.
The restaurant will likely accept takeaway orders, which will allow for the expansion of the existing Deliveroo network that delivers Nando’s to the north of the city.
Nando’s started way back in 1987, when the first restaurant opened in Rosettenville in Johannesburg, South Africa. They’ve come a long way since then, opening over 340 restaurants in the UK alone.
