How Coventry’s first four-star hotel will look

A new Hotel Indigo is set to open within the Friargate development in Spring 2021.

Planning documents have revealed more details about and the first visuals of the first hotel to be newly built in Coventry City Centre for almost 50 years.

The four-star boutique hotel will be a complete new build, located beside Coventry City Council’s office at One Friargate, and operate under the Hotel Indigo brand which already operates locally in Stratford-Upon-Avon and Birmingham.

Hotel Indigo Coventry will have 100 rooms, made-up of standard rooms, premium rooms and suites.. The ground floor will feature a casual fine dining restaurant and bar which will be open to both hotel guests and the public.

The upscale boutique hotel aims to combine authentic local experiences, modern design and intimate service with the peace of mind and consistency of staying with one of the world’s largest hotel groups.

The building itself will contribute towards the reduction of the city’s carbon footprint by being designed to be more energy efficient and incorporate sustainable technologies.

Such an international, premium brand of hotels coming to the city will deliver quality accommodation and help make Coventry a popular and diverse tourist destination.

To attract such an investment is a sign of good things to come for the city.

Subject to the grant of planning permission, work is expected to start on Hotel Indigo Coventry in the first few months of 2020. The hotel will welcome its first guests in Spring 2021.

The Interior

Thus far no computer-generated images of how the hotel’s interior will look have been released.

Although no two Indigo hotels are the same, their newest hotel in Chester was designed by the same company behind the new Coventry hotel and so will likely include the same vibrant, stylish furnishings throughout (pictured below).

Hotel Indigos are usually adorned with vibrant colours and textures to give the hotels a residential look and feel.
