Light show to illuminate Coombe Abbey Park later this year

The festive event will feature a mile-long light show through the woodlands, Christmas chalets selling festive food and drink, as well as fire pits to toast marshmallows.

A “spectacular” seasonal light show is set to illuminate the grounds of Coombe Abbey Country Park to help celebrate the Christmas period this year.

A joint venture between Coombe Abbey Hotel, Luminate and Coventry City Council will see the brand-new event run for an entire month, from November 25 to December 23.

Described as “perfect for all the family”, the interactive, open air show will be a chance for everyone to immerse themselves in a sparkling trail as darkness descends.

Timed to ambient music, there will be an array of lighting elements and light play within the historic grounds.

The mile-long walk will feature three different themes, including wild woodland to incorporate the stunning surroundings.

Following a sell-out debut last year, Daniel Maycock, one of the organisers, is thrilled to be bringing the special event to Coombe Abbey.

“We are really excited to bring this magical event to Coombe,” he said, “it’s a stunning setting and perfect for an enchanting light trial.”

“It’s something different, we hope most people won’t have seen anything like it before – we look forward to welcoming people to this captivating event over the festive period and hope it becomes a favourite family tradition for years to come.”

A number of Christmas chalets selling festive food and drink will be available, as well as fire pits for visitors to toast marshmallows.

Cllr Abdul Salam Khan, deputy leader of Coventry City Council, commented: “Coombe Abbey Park is a well-loved venue and this event is a perfect way to encourage visitors to get along to the park in the winter months.

“It’s an all-year-round visitor attraction which looks amazing whatever the time of year and we’ll be making sure that it is safe for visitors of all ages to attend.”

The fresh air event is fully outdoors and organisers have said coronavirus measures will be in place to make sure that visitors and staff stay safe.

Tickets are now on sale, costing £14 per adult and £10 per child over the age of two. A free car parking pass can be gotten alongside your tickets.

Tickets can be booked on Luminate’s website.
